Dates drying in the seering heat.

Dates growing on a date palm

Dubai Dhow Wharfage Dubai Holidays

Organised chaos of creek side Dubai Dhow Wharfage. For a couple of kilometres there are boxes, fridges, fruit and other seemingly cluttered goods randomly strewn along the creek road side. Somehow this all reaches the dows and gets underway to places like India.

Curious sights fill the Dubai streets for the eyes of a westerner. Head for the Dow wharfage to see some amazing middle eastern style docking techniques which have to be seen to be believed.

Abras are a fun way to get accross the Dubai Creek. A throwback to old times when rowing boats offered the only way accross the water. Don't get overcharged though, many try and charge 10 dirams to tourists, the proper price is half a diram.

Ibn Battuta Mall Dubai

Ibn Battuta Mall is a Dubai shopping destination unlike any other in the world. It is almost palatial in proportions and grandier, themed around the travels of renowned 14th century Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta.

The architecture within the mall’s six courts reflects the most influential places Ibn Battuta travelled during his time, providing mall visitors an invaluable glimpse into the past.

SOUK MADINAT JUMEIRAH

Dubai shopping malls :: Madinat Jumeirah shopping

The Madinat Jumeirah shopping mall Dubai is conveniently located within a short walk or courtesy vehicle ride of The Burj Al Arab Hotel and Jumeirah Beach Hotel Resort. It features classical arabian architecture and houses a variety of fine shops including fabrics, furniture and home decor, chocolatier, a number of excellent restraunts of various nationalities and a new theatre.

Whilst you may not get the best prices here, the it is fully air conditioned and the ambience is worth the trip alone. Expect to pay the asking price. If you want a bargain head for one of the many Suks. As with much of Dubai, Madinat Jumeirah has only just been completed and is finished to the highest standards.
